Market Opportunity

In 2011, 1.7 million patients worldwide will receive hemodialysis with needles. Patients with chronic or permanent kidney failure receive hemodialysis treatments three times per week, they use one arterial needle and one venous needle in each dialysis and the needles are not re-used. Consequently, approximately 265 million venous dialysis needles and 265 million arterial needles will be used in 2011 worldwide. Since the dialysis patient population is growing 7% per year, it is estimated that 380 million venous dialysis needles and 380 million arterial needles will be used annually by 2016.

$2.0B is the approximate size of the market for all BME products.
