Alfredo Zarate, MD, President/CEO:
BME was founded in 1998 by Dr. Alfredo Zarate, who has 30 years of experience in the field of hemodialysis as a researcher, practitioner and owner of dialysis clinics. He practiced nephrology in Washington, D.C and later founded, operated and sold two dialysis clinics to Vivra Inc. He received training at Brown University, Mayo Clinic, Georgetown University and the National Institute of Health. He is a former clinical assistant professor at Georgetown University, clinical associate professor at George Washington University and consultant in clinical nephrology at the National Institute of Health Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland.
The company is actively recruiting senior executives including VPs of Marketing and Sales.

Timothy Cooney, Mr. Cooney is a partner of LSIA, a private investment firm with $1b in assets under management. Previous positions include an associate counsel at the White House, Bessemer Trust and President of USVX (acquired by NYPPE Holdings). He holds a BA (magna cum laude) from Boston College, a Master’s degree from Cambridge University, a JD from CUA’s School of Law.
Paul J. Klaassen, Mr. Klaassen is Chairman, of Sunrise Living (“SRZ”), a company he founded in 1981. Sunrise operates 390 communities in the U.S., U.K. and Canada with revenues of nearly $2 billion. They host a resident capacity of 45,000, served by more than 30,000 Sunrise employees. Paul is a graduate of Georgetown University. He serves on the board of the US Chamber of Commerce.
Daniel Marx, Mr. Marx is a partner in Quantum Finanzas of Buenos Aires, Argentina. As former Secretary of Finance in Argentina, he created and launched the first global bond of an emerging country and was the first to use derivatives in Argentina. He is a former Director of the Central Bank of Argentina, former director of Darby Overseas Investments, and Templeton fund (UK).
Joseph B. Perrone, Sc.D. Dr. Perrone has 20 years of experience in biomedical companies, including Becton Dickinson Co, a global leader in medical needles and supplies, where he led a $60 million product line with full P&L responsibility. He has a Doctor of Science Degree from John Hopkins University and has been a research associated and post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University.
Andrew Sachs, Mr. Sachs is Managing Member of Sachs Capital, a private investment firm. A founding partner of private equity boutiques KMS Investments Inc, and Bethany Partners, Mr. Sachs was also President of Capital Investors, an early stage venture capital fund. Mr. Sachs earned a Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude) and an MBA from the Georgetown University, and a General Course Degree in Economics from the London School of Economics. In addition, Mr. Sachs is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa.
George Wilcox, Mr. Wilcox is a Managing Director of the Bessemer Trust Company, a private investment firm with more than $53b billion under management. Mr. Wilcox holds an M.B.A. from Duke University, a J.D. from New England School of Law and a B.A. in Economics from Boston University.
